Frank Uwe Laysiepen, in arte Ulay, è stato un pioniere della body art negli anni ‘70 assieme a Marina Abramović, con la quale ha spinto il potenziale espressivo del corpo umano fino ai suoi limiti. Nel 2009 si trovava a Lubiana per girare un film. Il progetto subì una vigorosa sterzata quando all’artista venne diagnosticato il cancro. Ulay decise allora di girare il mondo con una troupe e ritrovare le persone e i luoghi più importanti della sua vita, continuando a esplorare se stesso e la nuova condizione del suo corpo.
Frank Uwe Laysiepen, aka Ulay, was a pioneer of body art in the 1970’s with Marina Abramović, with whom he pushed the expressive potential of the human body to its limits. In 2009 he was in Ljubljana to shoot a movie. The project underwent a vigorous turn when the artist was diagnosed with cancer. Ulay then decided to travel the world with a troupe and find the most important people and places in his life, continuing to explore himself and the new condition of his body.
